Showing compassion to those around you is the second step in friendship evangelism. A simple but powerful demonstration of compassion is through the act of listening. The paradigm in The Ministry of Healing (page 143) helps us better understand the ministry of Christ. The second key verb in this paragraph states that he showed sympathy. When this passage was written in the 19th century, the word “sympathy” had a broader meaning than just “to feel sorry for a person.”
